President Trump launches unprecedented attack on national monuments
Dec. 4th, 2017 Today in Salt Lake City UT, President Trump is signing two "anti-"proclamations authorizing the largest removal of public lands protections in history. His crass and illegal move to gut protections for the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments in Utah opening up close to 85% of the protected wildlife habitat, public wildlands, archaeological resources, and Native American cultural treasures to destructive development.
What does this mean for our beloved Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument?
An attack on one of America’s national monuments is an attack on all of them. This also signals what Trump could do to our own Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument in southwestern Oregon and northern California.
Trump’s national monument “review” has been a sham from the start with a predetermined outcome: to roll back national monuments established by President Clinton, President Obama, and even President George W. Bush. All the work to establish and expand the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument – and safeguard the future for the Cascade-Siskiyou Monument’s remarkable biological diversity and community values – are at stake. We remain watchful, knowing that Cascade-Siskiyou is high on the target list of Rep. Greg Walden and Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke.
It’s crucial that the Trump Administration hear loud and clear that their unprecedented anti-monument actions are outrageously unacceptable.
Three ways to support your Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument at this time:

The American public overwhelmingly supports our national monuments. No president has ever attempted such a radical rollback of protections for our shared national treasures. Until now.
